Here at AO Estate Sales, we see a lot of vintage clothing. It’s one of the more fun parts about the job. We had an estate sale last fall where the estate owner had saved what seemed like all of her clothing for her entire adult life. Remember there were over four decades worth, she even had some of her childhood clothing as well.

This outfit was from that amazing estate sale in Pflugerville. Remember the tents filled with clothing?

In the photo below, both pieces are vintage, but you can see how it would be easy to follow one of the first rules of wearing vintage clothing, which is, to pair vintage with current styles.

I can see this top with a pair of jeans or casual slacks. And the skirt would go nicely with a loose blouse or even a cute tank top.

Vintage green business casual with V-striped skirt.

Well, our upcoming estate sale NEXT WEEKEND, right here in Austin has a TON of vintage clothing. And many of these pieces are quite amazing! Our clients, The estate owners are a fun loving couple with eclectic tastes.

To be sure, our client LOVES black. She has many classic black items, but not to worry, there IS some color mixed in there. We have over 200 pieces of vintage items at this upcoming estate sale. You will for sure find something. We ain’t cryin’ wolf!

Isn’t this absolutely fabulous, dahling?

<img class="size-full wp-image-3227" src="http://amberostrich.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/bluegreen.jpg" alt="Another beautiful summer dress. Or go barefoot. This is Austin, after all

Rules of Wearing Vintage Clothing

Pair vintage items with current styles. No need to wear vintage head to toe. Pair a vintage top with some jeans. Or a vintage skirt with a classic style.

Start small. When you first start wearing vintage, choose an accessory first. Dip your toe in the vintage waters.

Stay true to your style. But don’t be afraid to try something new. You never know what you might like.

Know that sizing has changed over the generations. Try on everything if it looks like it fits and don’t worry about what the tag says.

Wearing Vintage Clothing Is Fun!

Now that you understand the basics of vintage clothing, be sure and check out our upcoming estate sale next weekend, Sept. 26-27. We have over 200 pieces of vintage clothing. The styles are classic, elegant, and fun.

This is going to be a really fun VINTAGE estate sale, folks. Our clients are an dare I say, a bit of a wild and wacky pair. For fun they keep an antique car with mannequins in their driveway to dress up for gatherings and holidays! They even have a Barbie BB Gun shooting gallery for parties! LOL. They have been collectors of vintage for 20+ yrs and are now downsizing. Time to pass on some of their collections!

You know you can’t go wrong with clients like that! Hope to see you there!

Some people like to wait until the end of the year to reflect back, but somehow, this seems a good time for me as we enter into the summer, which is typically my busiest estate sale season of the year. This year, I’m going to be gone from Austin for part of the summer. But don’t forget me! I’ll be back soon and rarin’ to go!

We’ve had a really fun year so far and last year was great too! I was just thinking about how many interesting vintage estates we’ve seen, met some really cool Realtors (who knew Realtors could be cool??), and followed some of our estate sale items into their new lives. Yeah, that’s one of the things that’s satisfying about vintage items, they seem to take on a life of their own. And I got to hear some really cool stories of how estate sale shoppers bought the estate sale homes as a result of Amber Ostrich. Hearing these stories is like icing on the cake of my amazing job!

Just about this time last year we had the most amazing vintage estate sale I have ever seen. It was an the All Killer, No Filler estate sale in east Travis Heights, very traditional old-school Austin. This house was filled to the brim with new-old-stock. Tons of great vintage from late night television purchases and tons of it still unused in boxes. Along with the vintage as-seen-on-TV items, we had this killer three piece turquoise sectional with boat fiberglass bubble backs. It was one of the most fun sales we have ever had!

Later on in 2013, we held a stellar vintage estate sale in Pflugerville, remember this one was so worth the drive? This sale had tons of cool Tupperware AND an amazing selection of vintage clothing from at least four decades! We had a blast with this one and many of our favorite shoppers came out and had their fill of vintage everything.

No sooner was that one over and we were back in Tarrytown (one of my favorite spots to hold an estate sale) where our estate was filled with vintage Christmas, Western items and gobs and gobs of vintage material and other sewing implements.

Right before Christmas, AO held the Fred Webster estate sale. Little did I know how much adventure I would have when I signed this contract! I ended up learning so much more about the estate and the new owner than usual! (Keep reading…)

After that estate sale, I took a little time to nurture my budding side business, which has sprouted due to my love of Italy. Check me out truffle hunting!

It wasn’t long after that when I was able to follow along with some back stories from previous estate sales. Here’s Shaylene Spaniola, a shopper and owner of Bunglo, sitting on a vintage sofa that she purchased at our estate sale and then refurbished to re-sell.

In between all these fun estate sales and stories, we held more estate sales, filled with amazing vintage. And then we had some really cool stories to share. I LOVE it when shoppers tell me a great story! It’s one of the reasons I love this business so much.

First off, we had this amazing story of kismet and how a newbie estate sale shopper ended up buying the house she entered. And then another story of how one of our regular estate sale shoppers found the home of her dreams by seeing the doors of the house on Amber Ostrich’s Facebook page.

Check out the stories of Maureen Milligan and Katie Pixley and the home purchases of their dreams, all because of Amber Ostrich!

Maureen Milligan purchased the Fred Webster home.

These last two stories are by far my favorites of the year and I’d love to hear more! Feel free to contact me if you have any great stories from your experience at one of our estate sales. (It’s never too late!)

I love this business. We’ve had a great year and plan on having another great estate sale season. So stay tuned!

Also, don’t forget to sign up for my email list so you can be updated on any new estate sales.

The Austin real estate market is so hot. For houses that are highly desirable, you really have to do some serious detective work. Today, I have a story about a home sale that was all facilitated through the Amber Ostrich Facebook page Before the home was even listed, it had an offer all because of AO!

Do you remember the house we nicknamed “the Brady house” last fall?
One of our shoppers, Katie Pixley, bought it, all because of those bright double doors she saw on Facebook.

This home had it all: sunken living room, shag carpet, stone fireplace, vintage pool, huge shady oak trees in the yard. It was, as the listing agent Courtney Oldham, put it, “stepping back in time.”

And some how, Katie Pixley knew it, just from seeing the doors on the Amber Ostrich Facebook page. Katie said her partner’s Facebook friend had liked the post on Amber Ostrich and when she saw the photo of the red doors in her newsfeed they knew immediately that they needed to see the inside of the house.

The story of how they came to find the home is a fantastic tale, filled with intrigue, detective work and good old fashioned luck. Settle in folks and listen to this story.

They were hoping to find the perfect home. A desire to move from new construction condo to a 50s-60s style, vintage home with a big yard and character led them to the home on Waterline.

After Katie’s partner saw the photo of the house online, the couple began searching for vintage homes in Austin’s real estate market. They GUESSED at the potential location of the home based on age and style. Then found another home in that same area, that was listed as a home with “mid-century charm.” It turned out not to be the home they were looking for and eventually purchased, BUT it was in the same neighborhood. Her intuition proved right on, because after Katie drove by the listed home, she happened to find the Brady house just around the corner!

Talk about destiny. It seems this home and its new owners were meant to be. After only 24 hours of searching. Fate, destiny, luck, whatever it was, it brought them together. Katie said when she saw the red double doors along with the Amber Ostrich estate sale sign, she knew immediately it was the home they had been searching for. “I could not believe I somehow stumbled on this home without knowing the address or anything. I was so excited. I felt like I had just found a unicorn,” Katie said.

Two days after stumbling upon their dream home, Katie and her partner lined up for the first day of the estate sale, hoping not so much for treasures, but wanting to get an eye on the inside of the house.

“We’re a little bit of estate sale junkies, so we know the drill,” she said.

After they looked through the house and peeked into the rooms marked “staff only,” Katie said they knew the house would be theirs. They put in an offer a few hours later.

Currently, Katie and her partner are living in an apartment while the house is under construction. They’ll move in this fall. They are keeping the house as close to its original state as possible.

“The goal for us is to keep this home as true to its original (state) as possible,” she said. “We still look at this home and still can’t believe it’s actually ours.”

She also bought this oh-so-sweet vintage aluminum Christmas tree at the Fred Webster estate.

Katie sent me this photo of the aluminum tree she used last Christmas. This fall, she’ll be moving into the home after it’s been remodeled and the tree will have its permanent home.

It’s so cool when things come full circle.

It was a typical Saturday afternoon for Maureen Milligan of Austin, Texas. She was driving down Burnet hitting up her regular weekend haunts when she came across an Amber Ostrich estate sale sign. At first she didn’t want to stop, having never been to an estate sale before, she said she thought it would be formal, like an auction house.

But then, “something made me go back,” she said.

Milligan followed the signs twisting and turning until she came to the estate sale and when she entered the home and began examining the items for sale, she began to feel an honorable connection to them.

“I felt this great respect for them (the previous owners),” Milligan said.

Shortly after, she contacted the Realtor in charge of the home’s sale with a phone call. A month later, she found herself in a bidding war for the home she felt so strongly connected to.

Fred and Marie Webster were original Austinites, having lived in the home on Strass for over 50 years. They loved nature and in that way were similar to many of the current Austinites.

They also felt very close to their community. Marie’s brother, Fred’s brother-in-law, Fred Sternenberg and his wife were executors of the estate. Sternenberg said his sister and brother-in-law were very active in the community and loved the environment.

“They were aware of the environment and the needs of other people,” he said. The Websters were active in their church and charity organizations.

“They were not too different than the people I see in Austin today,” Sternenberg said. “They were involved in the lives of other people.”

Fred Webster was a UT professor and published author. He wrote non-fiction accounts of his work in the bird watching community. Fred and Marie spent much of their lives working with birds along the Texas coast, Brownsville, and into the Mexican mountains near El Cielo. The Websters escorted tour groups down to Mexico in order to study the flora and fauna in the Mexican mountains, even working with the Mexican government to provide housing and roads to get in to the areas they wished to study.

Fred Webster first book was about these adventures, named The Road to El Cielo: Mexico’s Forest in the Clouds. He also wrote fiction mystery novels, but most of his books were themed with birds, bird watching or nature.

Milligan wasn’t even actively looking for a new home when she happened upon the Webster’s home. She had been saying for five years or more that she would like to buy a new home. But when she came to the Amber Ostrich estate sale, Milligan knew it was going to be HER new home.

As she searched through the house buying things from the Webster estate, she began to feel as if she knew the Websters in some way. She bought several items from the estate sale. Some artwork, a cigar box nightlight with a bird on it, and books.

One of the items she bought was a painting with a Kentucky Warbler. This held a special meaning for Milligan. A few years ago in 2011, during the Bastrop fires, Milligan said she came upon a Kentucky Warbler in real life. It was disoriented, probably from the fires, and she was able to hold it for a little while until it flew away. When she saw the painting, she remembered that moment and knew she had to have the painting. Just like the home.

Milligan said her connection to the Webster home wasn’t just about the house, but about them and their things. An animal lover herself, she knew she would find peace in their home. And so far, she says, she has.

Sitting in the back garden area, of her new home.

A BIG thank you to all who helped.

The night before Halloween, we had torrential rains in Austin. Most of you know that, but Onion Creek was one area that took a lot of water. Many homes and cars were lost. Most on my street. It’s been one heckuva week with flood clean up and trying to salvage my belongings.

Luckily, we had some help. I just have to say this, HEB totally rocks!

While the rest of Austin moved on with their lives, we had volunteers from HEB stores all over the surrounding area. Even driving in from Elgin.

Here are few photos.

All the fencing behind my house was knocked down.

It was tragic, for sure. But luckily, these friendly folks from HEB pitched in and helped us with clean up all weekend long!

It was amazing what we couldn’t salvage. Look at all that stuff!

Cameron and his friends hamming it up for the photo. These guys just LOVED breaking down the damaged fences. They all worked with out complaint from morning till early evening. And the best part? They did it with a smile.

Luckily we managed to save the estate sale signs. Phew!!

They even cleaned out the fridge in my garage. Yep, like a true Texan, I had a garage fridge.

HEB also supplied these clean up tote bags to me and all my neighbors. They contained bleach, gloves, paper towels, bug spray, tooth brushes and more! These kits were invaluable.

Needless to say, I am very grateful to HEB for sending out these supplies, the breakfast tacos, bottled water AND OF COURSE the helpful volunteers to clean up after the flood. It’s great to know that we have good neighboring businesses.

One of the more difficult parts of running an estate sale company is to share in all the emotions my clients experience, with the process of selling their treasures. For many clients, we are handling a lifetime of memories, and it can be hard for them to let go.

On the positive side, offering your treasures to estate sale shoppers ensures that your most prized possessions will go into the homes of loving new owners.

When clients are having difficulty letting go, I remind them that having an estate sale is one of the best ways to part with their items. While donating your estate to a charity or thrift store can be cathartic, it isn’t necessarily the best way to go.

Imagine the assembly line of sorting and pricing your stuff has to go through in a large organization before it gets into the hands of the actual buyer.

When you have an estate sale, your items get into the hands of the new owner straight away directly from your own home.

Estate sale shoppers are, in general, an amazing breed of folks. Many of them love the process of buying from the home where that item has lived for decades. For the average estate sale shopper, the buying process isn’t just about getting the item, it’s about identifying with and knowing a bit of that item’s history.

In many cases, your items will be brought back to a new life. Such as this pair of stools, which needed a bit of TLC when we offered them for sale. Our shopper was so happy to have bought them, she sent us these before and after photos just two days after purchasing them!

Before.

Having an estate sale is one of the best ways to let your treasure trove of possessions experience a new life.

Being able to accept that you are on the path to selling most all of your items is hard. But imagining them in the loving hands of new owners may make it a little bit easier for some.

We are already setting up our next estate sale (coming in Tarrytown soon) but in between I HAVE to share with you all my experience being the first customer at the new Trader Joe’s in Austin!

On my phone, I captured the evening of Sept. 19, the night before the Trader Joe’s grand opening in Westlake where I was the Loyal FAN waiting all night in front of the store. It was a fun adventure! Hope you enjoy.

It was close to midnight and my palms were sweaty and almost sticking to the steering wheel as I pulled into the shopping center at the new Trader Joe’s in Westlake. I had packed the car much like an overnight camping trip, bringing all my gear for me and my chihuahua, Venus.

Here’s what I brought:

Lawn chair

Cooler with fresh juice

Water and dog food

Dog bed

Radio, flashlight, toothbrush, etc.

I had wondered as I drove from South Austin if I would be the first in line. Okay so it’s not an IKEA grand opening! But I certainly couldn’t be the only one who has been waiting and waiting for Trader Joe’s to come to Austin. I guess I was the only one who thought it might be fun to make it an overnight adventure!

It was over a year ago when I first heard it announced that Austin would receive its own Trader Joe’s. I recall at that time, I blurted out “I will be the first customer!”

Not even sure where that came from! Somewhere deep inside of me, I knew it was something I really wanted to do.

Although I was the only one in line overnight, there are other die hard followers of TJ’s.

In fact my very dear and close friend, Tiziana, started an e-petition five years ago and was interviewed in the Statesman for her efforts to make contact with the Trader Joe’s management and present a case for opening a store in Austin.

Yes to state that TJ’s has a bit of a following is probably an understatement. Her petition had over 4200 signatures the last time I looked.

As I was getting dressed, I wondered, “What does a TJ fan look like? Like me I suppose.”

Homemade TJ tattoo.

Tonight I am wearing my Trader Joe’s T-shirt. I’ve brought my Trader Joe’s thermal insulated shopping bags and I even had a self-made tattoo for the occasion. (Sharpie tatt)

I set up camp at the front of the store and a few minutes later the assistant manager came out to introduce himself.

He asked me what my favorite products were and I told him that Venus was here for the rawhides that are wrapped with chicken breast. This is the thing she loves the most. Usually brought to us by a visiting friends from out of town.

A few minutes later he returned with a package of the rawhide treats and some chocolate covered espresso beans, no doubt to help me stay awake through the night.

What a pleasant surprise! Venus and I are very happy.

About 10 minutes later all of the staff came out and introduced themselves and we took a group photograph.

Many of them have relocated from the Bay Area to Austin to work here at the Trader Joe’s. They all seemed really happy and excited about the opening and about moving to Austin.

The Westlake police officer on patrol stopped by and couldn’t believe I was really waiting in line for the store to open in the morning. I replied to his question, “Eight hours is nothing! I’ve been waiting 8 years.” He said, “Very well,” and he would be back to check on me throughout his shift.

The shopping center sits up on a hill off Bee Cave Road and there’s a nice breeze, which is rare during a hot September in Austin. Venus is on my lap and has already devoured one chicken breast raw hide and is very content.

Now I am getting sleepy, I put Venus in her crate and break out my sleeping bag. I am the lone FAN that night until early the next morning when the GRAND OPENING starts to happen.

<img class="size-full wp-image-2672" alt="Me, Venus, and the Trader Joe's staff.
We’ve got so much vintage Tupperware at our upcoming estate sale in Pflugerville that I couldn’t help but reminisce about the Tupperware parties I went to as a kid with my mom!

I called up my mom’s friend, Marge, who used to be a Tupperware vendor back in the early days of Tupperware. She reminded me of some of the great party games we used to play. What a hoot!

If you come to our Pflugerville estate sale next weekend (Sept. 27-28), YOU TOO could host your own Tupperware party, complete with vintage party games I’m about to share with you.

Here’s a few tidbits of what we’ve got at the sale.

Jugs and tumblers. NO, not those kind of jugs!

Canisters and bowls, some still in their original packaging! EEK

Salad bowls, cereal bowls, canisters and those awesome juice tumblers!

Marge, back in the Tupperware days.

Okay, now for the nitty gritty. My buddy, Marge, sent me a few detailed descriptions of the party games we used to play. These things are a laugh! And would probably make for fun games at any party today.

#Vintage Tupperware Games

How Much Toilet Paper Do You Need?

Pass a roll of toilet paper around the room. Each guest was asked to take as much toilet paper off the roll as she would need. (“Of course, they think it’s for wiping,” Marge says, with a laugh.) When all have selected their amount, the Tupperware agent would ask all to take their piece and see who chose the closest amount to fit around her waist.

Nickel Between the Knees

Form two teams. Put two Tupperware tumblers on the opposite side of the room. Each team leader gets a nickel which she puts between her knees. Then she walks to the tumbler and drops it in from between her knees. Pass it on to the next in line from your team. First team done – Wins! (“This one always got a lot of laughs,” Marge says.)

Spoon Down Your Shirt

Form two teams. Take a spoon and tie it to a string. First in line on each team, drops the spoon down inside of her clothes (shirt and pants) the next person grabs the spoon and puts it down her clothes. First team done, Wins! Clothes can be loosened. If the string is real long it may pass from person to person, which causes a lot of fun.

Tip from a Tupperware pro: “Props needed for each game had to be simple and easy to pack.”
Marge always carried: toilet paper, nickels and two teaspoons attached to long strings.

If you still need some additional party ideas, here is an original Tupperware Jello mold recipe. Yum!

#Vintage Tupperware Jello mold recipe

As the owner of an estate sale company, it may come as no surprise to you that I am well-versed in selling on Craigslist. I’ve been selling online for years and I am definitely no stranger to Craigslist. I know lots of people are intimidated by it, but it’s not hard if you know some of the tricks.

Sell an antique bed on Craigslist

Selling on Craigslist is a great way to get rid of all your extra things around the house; sell off inherited furniture; and make a little extra cash. Lots of people prefer to buy from Craigslist rather than shop retail or even thrift stores. Craigslist cuts out the middle man and puts the second-hand buyer and seller directly together.

There are a few of my suggestions, and a few things to watch out for. Then you’ll be all set. So, here you go:

How to Sell an Antique Bed on Craigslist

Let’s say for example you have an antique 3/4 bed for sale

First of all, before you post, you need to make sure your asking price is right. Times and styles change. Antique furniture is sometimes not as desired as it once was. In today’s market, we often see that vintage furniture from the 1960s sells well, but standard antique furniture or darker wooden furniture will only bring so much.
Just because something is old does not mean it it valuable. Remember, while this may be the bed your great grandmother slept in when she was a young girl,
chances are there were thousands made just like it and they were a common item everybody had in their homes.

To see if you’re in the right price range, do a little research first. Check to see what others are asking for similar items.

Chances are some sellers will go for pie in the sky prices. Ignore those posts and look for the average selling price. Others have done their homework or realized after some time with no inquiries on their posting that they needed to be more realistic about their pricing.

One easy way to compare prices is by using the SEARCH box in the left margin on main CL page. You will see it just above the calendar

How to research pricing on Craigslist

Enter, for example:
Antique bed
Make sure the category below your search words is the FOR SALE option.
Listings will come up and you can go in and look to see average asking price for items similar to yours.

Differentiate Yours from the Rest

To make sure your listing stands out, look for unique characteristics of your item to the similar items you found.

If, for example, all the other beds are plain wood but yours has some unique carving or tole painting etc., not only will you be able to ask a bit more for your bed but it should be a key line of text in your description.

For example:
Antique bed with carved lions head and original tole painting detail as shown in photos.

The Heading

A good heading will be the key to finding your buyer. Make sure that you use eye catching words in the heading bar.

For example:
Antique 3/4 bed perfect guest room Furn. Great Condt.

The Description in the Body of the Listing

Your description matters a great deal. Be clear and concise. The less wordy the better. Most buyers want the nitty gritty and to see the photos. Be sure to include measurements, with key words such as length, height and width.

Watch Out For and Avoid Spammers

If you want to completely avoid the spammers, include the following in your description.

“NO emails please. Due to high amount of spam on CL right now we are only taking calls and or text messages. Call MARY 512 555 1212. Or text. There is an option when creating you post, which allows you to opt out of accepting e mail replies to your posting.

Do not waste time with emails, buyers are out there and ready to come with cash in hand for your item if it is priced right. I have personally sold an old dryer in record time. I set my watch and had my first call on the posting in under 7 minutes. The buyer came with cash, and a truck, and the old dryer was removed and out of my client’s garage in under 30 minutes. If I had used email this process would have taken much longer. I was already onto my next project for the day.

As an aside and a bit of a qualifier, I also like to add the following text.

“Please note, You must have a truck and or someone to help you move it. Call 512 555 1211.

If your item is at the right price you will probably receive more than one call, and since, like many things, sales can almost happen in ‘real time’ I like to first qualify, and choose who I am going to give the address to and allow come to look at my item. In this example if the potential buyer needs to borrow a truck, and are not sure they can, and some other buyer already has a truck and is ready to come, that is the person I give the address to.

How Take to Good Craigslist Photos

Photos are best taken during daylight hours, so you don’t have to use flash.

Be sure to photograph any flaws. There is no sense in wasting your time or that of a potential buyer by not stating something that is obvious and truthful in the condition of the item. Include all eight photos. Uploading your photos on CL is free, so why not take advantage?

Be sure to include photos from different angles. Pretend you are the buyer.
What details would you want to see before making a trip to view an item?

Extra Tips and Keywords

If it is true, be sure to include the words, “From clean non-smoking home.” If your home is pet/cat free, be sure to say so. That will be a huge plus to many with certain allergies etc.

Use searchable key words. At the bottom of the description add a line of searchable key words.

For example:

If you are selling an antique bed your key words might be something like:
“Bedroom, bed, room, suite, bed, frame, headboard, head, board, day, bed, child’s furniture, rustic, shabby, vintage.” Include alternate spelling options even if they are not the proper spelling.

Once you’ve done all these things, you are ready to find a buyer, and make some cash.

Happy Craigslisting!

AO has been on Pinterest for a while now, initially I just wanted to see what all the hoo ha was about. But now I really do love it. Pinterest is great for the estate sale shopper because of all the random, crazy, funky things you find, but never know what to do with, you can now find great ideas and be inspired on Pinterest!

Below are a few of my favorite upcycle/recycle ideas found on Pinterest:

Lets say you found some great #vintage shutters. Ok so you don’t really need shutters, but aren’t they cute? Make them into a side table. From Good Housekeeping:

Linked to this Good Housekeeping article: http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/crafts/how-to-build-a-table

Do you know how often we see old globes? Sure, there are some people who collect them. But we also get plenty that simply are not collectible due to condition or lack of interest. But look what they can become! Paint it. Decoupage it. Glue photos to them. Turn it into a lampshade. Decorated globes are a great way to take something old and make it new.

And then there are LISTS on Pinterest. 101 ways to do ANYTHING. This one here is a great example of what to do with old magazines. There are so many old magazines that we never know what to do with. You can buy old magazines at estate sales for pennies and turn them into really unique treasures.

This one has got to be one of my favorites. We see soooo many #vintage non-working watches that are just beautiful. I love the idea of making them sentimental, yet keeping their original shape. You could take the faces and make them into necklaces too.

Photo from Tumblr: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9a00zPTNF1rdmhz3o1_1280.jpg

Ok I have to show off. This next pin has an Amber Ostrich purchase inside it. Blue Note Bakery, a local Austin bakery, used this hatbox as a cake stand, bought at one of OUR estate sales! Pretty cool. Naturally, I have repinned it to one of my boards.

Have you ever been tempted to just buy old records and make them into stuff? Here’s a great example of how to reuse that vintage vinyl. Use it for cupcakes or cookies, donuts, whatever!

Use #vintage #vinyl: http://divinepartyconcepts.com/2012/06/26/vinyl-record-dessert-stand/
